Khandro, do you believe that the people who were alive at the same time as Jesus, when hearing the words" He came not to bring peace to the world, but a sword", were capable of appreciating the difference between a real sword and an imaginary sword of the spirit?

The probability of life from chemicals, and a universe from nothing is zero. A correct application of the scientific method would be to follow the evidence. Doing so most certainly does NOT lead to a materialistic explanation. If panspermia is given credence, with alien origins, then that is simply absurd and a spiritual dimension has as much validity as say quantum theory.

If you do not comprehend metaphor and allegory then you must both live in a pretty barren world, excluded from poetry and literature.
Do you think that when Shakespeare wrote of the 'slings and arrows of outrageous fortune', Hamlet was bemoaning the fact that he was being struck by real stones from real slingshots and real arrows shot from real bows?

Khandro, Jesus told his disciples to buy weapons. No metaphor there. I wonder who he really was? It's my guess that his existence had nothing to do with the supernatural.

Khandro, of course I know what a metaphor is. I was asking you if you thought the people who lived at the time when Jesus preached knew the difference.
