Hi folks out there ... I now have a lot more time than I used to (have now retired from full time employment), so would like to do some pickling. Have just made a batch of pickled cucumbers, but they were absolutely ghastly so chucked them away! Anyway, I now have another recipe which calls for "kosher salt" but believe that this is only available in the USA. Had I have known that I was going to need some, I would have bought some while we were there recently. Anyway, does anyone know what the nearest equivalent to kosher salt is in the UK, please? HOpe you can help, please. Many thanks, best wishes, Chox.

chokkie...."Table salt or common salt is a mineral composed primarily of sodium chloride (NaCl), a chemical compound belonging to the larger class of salts; salt in its natural form as a crystalline mineral is known as rock salt or halite"

So it shouldn't make a bit of difference what salt you use.
Salt is salt is sodium chloride.....kosher salt just has bigger crystal size and is chemically the same as any other salt. There won't be any difference in the end result.....
