Hello . I am up-dating my bathroom . I have ceramic tiling for the floor and a new tolet pan to go fix in . Would you tile the floor first then install the pan . Tiling first avoids cutting tiles around the pan , saving quite a bit of aggravation . Was concerned whether the weight on the tiles doing it this way would make the tiles prone to cracking .Any thoughts would be welcome .

If the floor is made of wood, I would install the pan first. If you lay ceramic tiles first, the wooden floor might 'give' a little, later on, and you could have a cracked tile or two. Even if you can't make a clean joint of tiles around the base of the pan, it can be covered up with sealant.
On the other hand, if you ever need to replace the pan you may find the new one doesn't fit the cut tiles.
I suspect the weight of the pan is negligible compared to your weight (no insult intended), so simply walking on the tiles will cause flexing if you have a wooden floor. When standing on one leg, as you do when you walk, the pressure/sq inch will be higher than you sitting on the pan. OG's comment about changing the pan is valid too.
I would cover the floor boards with a sheet material first thus making a level surface and then tile the floor, the even weight of a toilet pan should not then cause the tiles to crack.

But then in the very unlikely-hood that it did you could always replace the cracked tiles.
Yes, 18mm ply is the usual.

Thanks everyone . The bathroom floor is actually solid concrete . I think I will go with tiling the floor first . I have a few spare tiles as I bought them in a clearance at my local B & Q . So I will be able to replace any damaged ones as and when .
