Well, have you tried switching it off and turning it back on ?

Also...check the battery in your mouse ( if you are using one ! )
It's worth unplugging the sensor from the computer and trying it in a different USB slot. Also, are you sure the mouse batteries are OK?
are batteries in the mouse ok?
Wireless, does it have communication buttons on mouse and transmitter/receiver to press and re-establish connection ?

Otherwise any of the above.

Thank you all.
Will try what you suggest later in the morning as I have to go out soon for a medical appointment.

Have put in New battery and it works! Apologies for being so stupid and thank you all again.
Same happened to me in hospital last week. Had a minor spill on laptop. Quickly mopped it up before it could seep through and cause major damage. Only thing was the mouse stopped working and I can't get away with touchpads. Rummaging through my belongings I found a pack of batteries (Can't think why I took batteries to hospital). Anyway I changed the battery and bingo, no more problems. Pure coincidence I know, but when two things go wrong at the same time it is very easy to jump to the wrong conclusion.
You are not stupid, sometimes the most obvious just slips below the radar.
Glad to hear you're sorted.

Jack, how are you feeling? Still ok?
sorry for side-track Dave
I am just about coping. Only difficulty I have is rising to my feet from my chair and walking as my legs are so swollen and painful I can only do a slow shuffle with the help of my walking frame. Don't know what has caused that. I didn't go in because of my legs; this developed in hospital. I couldn't get a satisfactory explanation. Hope it subsides soon.
