Dog Owners - An Apology.

OK folks, sorry for saying I hate dog owners. Out of order. Not changed my view about dogs though. If you don't know why I've posted this thread, look here:

I agree that the original photo was posed, but I have a similar unposed photo of my baby granddaughter lying in a dog's bed with my big black labrador drinking her bottle of milk. My lab was and still is the most gentle dog you could imagine and I am totally happy to let the grandchildren play with him. He is nearly 10 now but the grandkids still use him as a pillow and try to ride on his back.

^ I actually agree with naomi here. I think some breeds of dog are bred to be aggressive , some of those breeds are now banned in the UK, but they can still be obtained from illegal breeders. Pit Bull terriers for example. There were / are adverts from sellers boasting of how aggressive their dogs are.

Apology accepted. Although i do think it's sad that you can't love dogs the way I and 1 in 4 of the countrys population do.

I can see how people love dogs. I've come round to them having looked after a wee dog for a while.
But I was bitten by an Alsatian when I was young. There was no reason for it. I was just walking home when my neighbour's dog got out of its garden and bit my arm. I'm still terrified of Alsatians and other big dogs.

I have never been a dog owner ..always cats, but I can't imagine anyone ill treating one .let alone eat it..that was a shocking thing to say and I understand 100% how angry that has made the doggy folk here... I also know there are some dogs that are more problematic than others as pets..bit like humans... such extreme opinions and thoughts are best kept to one's one counsel... as much as you are entitled to them..it is not always a good idea to share....

I too must admit I am not fond of dogs. The reason being I was bitten badly by a dog when I was in my 30's. I tend to keep well away from them.

10C I couldn't care less whether you hate me (as a dog lover) or not, makes no difference to me and I wont lose any sleep over it. I on the other hand, hate people like YOU, in fact people with such a hatred of a beautiful animal scare me because there is so much to love in a well brought up and happy pooch and their suffering at cruel and selfish people's hands causes me to have sleepless nights at times.

ah, relax, Clarion, you're allowed to not like dogs and you're allowed to not like dog owners too. Minority views, probably, but so what, you're entitled to express them.

jno no one has suggested that clarion are not entitled to its views I think it is more the venom and name calling that went along with it!

I suppose I *should* be afraid of dogs. When I was about 8, a neighbours dog came flying at me and leapt at my nose. But...I still wanted a dog, and finally got one at 10. My Sally...the gentlest dog you could imagine...came into my life when I was 63. My first dog that was just MINE. I couldn't imagine being without her.
There really are not many bad dogs...just bad owners...and bad breeders.
I'd like to know what Clarion bases his hatred on...experience?...lack of knowledge?
