i had cardiac bypass surgery almost 3 months ago ( age 44).i just about manage to drive fairly comfortably now and wondered if anyone who has had this operation could tell me how long before it took them to get back to a manual factory job  which  sometimes  requires a bit of muscle . 3 months is often quoted but i don't feel ready yet as if i try to do anything a little physical i suffer afterwards and still have chest and shoulder blade pain.and this is nowhere near as much as i would have to do at work.

thanks in advance

I don't suppose this is much help, but my husband had a quadruple by-pass 21 years ago at the age of 50 and was back at work after 2 months as a carpet salesman (some lifting work involved). At that time over the course of about six months, he saw 2 or 3 people that had the same op as him at the same time. One of them was on crutches after four months complaining of how frail he was BECAUSE he had the op! My husband has said that he believes state of mind is the thing that controls how quickly you get back to normal. A positive attitude is essential and of course everyone is different so go at your own pace but most of all DON'T BE AFRAID. As I said he is still going strong after 21 years. Good Luck.
