Two Strictly Series, Anyone?

Anyone else think there should be two separate series of Strictly Come Dancing - one for untrained dancers and another for trained dancers? Seems to me pointless pitting the likes of Alexandra Burke and Aston Merryfield against Brian Conley, Susan Calman and co. If there ever were two series, I bet the one featuring untrained dancers would get far more viewers. In fact, I doubt the other would get enough viewers to earn a second series. What do you think?

Didn't it start out like that?
I think there would be a lot of difficulty getting enough contestants.
Many 'celebs' went to stage school and had dance training and a lot more went to dance lessons for the sake of their cvs.

The current mix works okay for me - there are always non-dancers in the finals and some sportsmen have done particularly well.
Works just the way it is for me.
Some have dance training, some don't, some are natural dancers, some aren't, some you take to, some you don't.
Forget about it being a dance competition and just enjoy it for what it is, pure entertainment. I love it :)
Notsuout that but I would like to see an audience vote for entertainment value. It is ultimately intended as an entertainment show and whilst I appreciate the critiques of the judges I would also like like a 'well, that was bloody good fun' vote.
All types of talent shows have a range of contestants, works ok.
Ooh, mamy, your black lace undies are rather nice ;)
Why thank, they tickle a bit.
Nothing wrong with a bit of a tickle..
I think that you are over-analysing what is a light-entertainment show...it's not a real competition with valuable prizes. All the "celebs" taking part are paid very well...and are "upping" their profile, which seems to be the main point of taking-part.
Claire Sweeney from series 1 certainly had dance training - she was a full time student at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts and was in the musical Hair, then Chicago.

Jill Halfpenny from series 2 had a similar background with formal dance training. She is one of my all time favourite celebs on Strictly.
I don,t have any preferences as to who wins, just love watching it, most colouful programme and lovely music.
No, like it the way it is.
