- Today the Government postponed a debate on Brexit until November for fear of losing the vote.
- Also today, the Government enmasse abstained in a vote on Universal Credit for fear of an embarrasing defeat by its own MPs.
- The Government are heading for a 'No Deal' on its negotiation on leaving the EU.
- The Governing Party are deeply divided, with Ministers publicly fighting with colleagues on a daily basis.
- The Prime Minister seemingly has no authority, regulatly being undermined by her own Foreign Secretary.

How have we got into such a mess to have this useless bunch of failures governing us ?

//jim everyone is divided on brexit not just the Tories. //

That's the bottom line - and one that disingenuous Labour supporters consistently refuse to acknowledge.
Danny...wrong.

Sarah Woolaston, the Tory MP for Totnes voted with the Opposition yesterday :::

If the Government thought that they could win the debate, then they would have voted against the Opposition Day Motion. The only plausible reason for the Government to fail to vote, is that they knew that they would fail to win the motion.
TTT...yet more childish drivel, at 09:16.
Mikey, one rebel does not a party make. You cannot lose if you don't take part in the race.
so mikey, your beloved Labour are totally at one on brexit are they? right oh!
Danny...as far as I am concerned, the Opposition won the debate yesterday.

But why do YOU think May stopped all her MP's from voting, when her Minister, David Gauke made such a spirited defence of this deeply flawed policy ?
what state do you think Comrade Jezza would be in if he'd had won the election with a slim majority? Would he be having a better time than Mrs May?
Mikey , who did the opposition debate with?
Danny...daft question...I watched 2 hours of the debate live yesterday. But how about an attempt at an answer to the question I asked at 09:32 ?

You don't have to answer of course, but I would be interested in your reply !
Mikey, The answer to that is simple,She did not want to face the embarrassment of losing the vote due to treacherous members of her own party.
//That's the bottom line - and one that disingenuous Labour supporters consistently refuse to acknowledge.//

Except the massive post I wrote on page 1 about that exact subject...
Perhaps you're not one on the disingenuous ..... perhaps.
Danny...well, at least we agree on that point, although I am not sure Wollaston would appreciate being called treacherous.

So what you are saying is that, apart from a minor U-turn over the cost of using the UC Helpline, she will still blunder on with a policy that even her own Party can't support ?

Doesn't sound as if she is in control of anything, least of all her own Party.
Mikey, I would like to debate with you sometime when you are not wearing your blinkers, but I will not hold my breath.
Aren't they all dsyfunctional ? At least in the sense that none seem to get things right. Or even put right that which the last lot screwed up. Or maybe that's the intent and they're all functional.
Harder questions please! :-)
Sure, Labour is divided on Brexit as well -- but right now, the Tories are in government, and their divisions are the ones that matter the most because of that. It's not ignoring the issues Labour has to say so.

It's in the interests of the country as a whole that the Tories work out what they actually want from the ongoing negotiations.
Jim....I don't think they can agree about anything at the moment. I predicted years ago Europe would be the downfall of the Tories, as it always has been and its happening all over again.
As I have said many times a good Government is made by a strong and acceptable opposition as well as a reasonable majority.

At present we have neither, so if you are a Labour supporter I would not shout too much because Jezza should be ripping TM to shreds. And he cant because his policies are even worse so he is not a viable alternative.

What a complet mess we are in thanks to TM and JC.
YMB....Corbyn seemed to have no difficulty in "ripping TM to shreds" yesterday, when Labour made May issue a whip to her party, to stop them voting for a motion that many of them might have approved of, and subsequently lost.

Opposition doing its job it would seem to me !
