My God don't they realise the stress this would put someone through? Plain awful for your friend.
And they rely on Royal Mail to have the letter delivered in time?

When I think about the amount of letters delivered to me over the years with just the same house number and the first three digits of the postcode.
I'm ever so slightly angry.
How can they be ''unforeseen circumstances'' when they had to take the time to write and hope the post would arrive in time?

I feel so sorry for your friend xx

The diagnosis was bad enough for her......then the long wait...and now this....
I did wonder about mail delivery which can be hit and miss but of course she has to phone before she travels so they'd tell her then...I think I would pretend the letter didn't arrive...phone in the morning and take it from there........

Perhaps it's now like over booking on a flight......hoping some don't turn up....

Over book the beds and operating times and if nobody dies during the waiting weeks bump a few patients to wait some more weeks......x

It shouldn't be allowed! If genuine, what a awful mess! So sorry for your friend gness. Can't be doing her stress levels any good....

It's not unforeseen circumstances....once maybe.....but not with the day before letter every time......

Maybe it's targets......who knows...... :-(

It's shocking - beyond belief - I really feel for our friend - she doesn't deserve such shabby treatment.

Besides which she's the only member of our Quiz Team that knows about TV and Fillums and we need her back urgently now.
That's so distressing, I can only imagine how I'd be feeling - poor lady.
They phoned me to cancel an op the day before. I went mad, started crying and hung up. They phoned back 10 minutes later saying the appointment will stay the same.

I wish she'd do that, Ummmm....I know it's really getting her down but she doesn't make a fuss.....I found surgeons to be an odd bunch so best not to upset them before they mess about with your brain....though I'd still do it.....

The hospital is a long way from here......a relative arranges time off work and she books a hotel for him so he can be close to the hospital for the first few days......x
It was my natural reaction to the situation.
I am extremely sorry to hear this
I had to ring up on the day one time - to see if there would be a bed at 1400.

amazing ly work was very understanding - we all think you need this operation ( hip replacement) even tho it was three hours notice

fingers crossed and prayers for next time

I did it spectacularly once, Ummmm........MrG received some really shoddy treatment in the weeks after his transplant....

We had many hospital visits which was expected and fine....but it was a long, slow journey to a very disorganised and quite dirty hospital....

One day we arrived and they'd lost his notes again.....told us nobody could see him without notes so go home and come back later or tomorrow.....
I told MrG not to worry about what was about to happen next......I am very quiet and calm as a rule and I didn't want to give him a heart attack on top of everything else....

I threw myself on the floor and had a tantrum.....just like a naughty two year old who can't have sweeties....

His note were found quickly...... :-)

Thank you, Peter.....x
I am so sorry for your friend, that is dreadful treatment. I hope a fuss is made, and they are shamed into letting her have her operation.
Forget complaining to PALS, advise your friends to speak to the Governance Team. x
