There have been a few icons that have died in my lifetime - John Lennon, David Bowie etc but there was something about George Michael dying that was really sad. I think it is because he had such a beautiful voice and he had so much more to give
The artists you mention had so much more to give us all, as you say, and it is our great loss, for not being able to witness it.

Felt the same at the premature death of one of my favourite childhood film star icons, Steve McQueen, who sadly died aged 50, to cancer, after a short two film comeback....which he was very ill during filming.
McQueen believed that asbestos used in movie sound stage insulation and race-drivers' protective suits and helmets could have been involved, but he thought it more likely that his illness was a direct result of massive exposure, while removing asbestos lagging from pipes aboard a ship while in the Marines. Sad.
thx about channel 47
I had noticed a lot of er deja vu in relation to channel 4
( no really I hadnt realised that they did it all again a day later)
Hi Yog

interesting point on asbestosis - I ramble a bit I admit - the v wise judges in this country have decided the cancer from asbestos is triggered
and not due to long exposure
so if you are 50 and have it
and have been employed by A B C D who can be shown to have used it, in the past for various times - any of them can be held liable ( 'severally and jointly;) for the whole lot
( instead of just part )
just thought I wouild say
I dont know if Stevie claimed
Why do people take music so seriously? Analysing every lyric in every song, looking for meanings and trying to guess what they are trying to say. As far as I'm concerned, if it has catchy lyrics and a good tune I can singalong to then it will do for me, whatever it means and whoever is singing it.
Some music is just bubble gum to the ears or a background hum but some music has meaning and import - it's very personal.

Like Literature, each piece stands alone.

i'm with you there dave
I watched it last night. Very moving in places. He was such a passionate guy, which at times got him into trouble
That's what came through with him and people could see it and respected him for it. Sweet man at heart. Brilliant singer.
I think to be loved as much as George loved his partner, to write Jesus To A Child for him, must be a very special thing.

Dennis ... come back with ma apple pie.
He wrote and sang some very beautiful songs. He wanted to be remembered as having integrity, I think he achieved that.
He needed to be true to himself Eleena. He certainly had integrity.
It sounds like everyone who knew him professionally had a lot of respect for him Patsy x
They did Eleena. His passion for his talent shone through. I love Father Figure....
Missing a fool, A different corner ... so many that it's hard to choose from to be honest.
Kissing!
Love a lot of his stuff.
I know! So hard to choose. I love different corner too..
Just trying to watch it on catch up, I only caught part of the end. Having a problem getting it on at the minute, Ill keep trying.
Got it, off to watch it Patsy.
