Lamps With Led Bulbs That Can Not Be Replaced: Annoying And Senseless

Whilst looking for a couple of lamps, I have become quite annoyed at the mind-set of a seemingly increasing number of manufacturers who **insist** on offering a product with a LED bulb that, once 'dead', the whole unit is rendered useless.

Has anybody else noticed this development? What can one do to counteract this trend?
Thank you.

I have a clip-on led spot light, which I bought 3 years ago.

As leds have a near everlasting life. I don't expect to replace the unit in what is left of my life time.

But I may be wrong of course !
Low voltage (DC) leds either fail virtually immediately (in which case you return the item for exchange/refund) or last pretty much forever.

Mains voltage leds are a different matter - I would never buy a lamp with a captive mains voltage led bulb - they just don't last the predicted lifespan in 'normal' (as opposed to 'laboratory') conditions.
Never knew that Sunny !
I've had some of those little LED torches. By and large they don't fail straghtaway, but they only last 3-4 years of very infrequent use. Fortunately they don't cost anything much, but no way are they "everlasting".
i have no faith in the lifespan of "non commercial" led bulbs not one of mine has lasted longer the 900 hrs brand names included
that should have read commercial not non commercial such as used for road lighting etc the components of commercial leds seem to have inferior components in them

J & I: agreed!
When one had those 'old' light bulbs that soon got piping hot, one expected them to cease functioning.
But these "everlasting" LEDs barely last longer; they appear to have built-in obsolescence. With exorbitant prices, I'm surprised that the BSI et al have not stepped in.
