Eddie....we can do all that without inventing a false reason for so doing.
I fully agree mikey, but the concept of Zambian Humanism is a useful tool to use in accessing the situation. It is NOT perfect, but as I said it is the closest I have found to expressing my view on life and how to live it.

A total lack of objectivity I notice. Authoritative opinions. Wow!
home at last
God exists for those who need him to exist, i.e. those who can't get through life without an imaginary friend.
Theland, //A total lack of objectivity I notice.//

You accuse others of failing to examine the question objectively but can you honestly say that you’ve done that? I’ll answer that for you. No, you can’t because you begin your examination of the ‘evidence’ with the pre-conceived notion that the God of Abraham is the creator, failing completely in that process to consider that, since the character is not omnipotent – and the bible makes it quite clear that he is not omnipotent - he can’t possibly be what you claim him to be. There may be a creator – who knows? – but if there is, it’s not him. You objective? No, you are not.

I don't believe in God. The stories in the bible about miracles and returning from the dead etc. All a load of cods wallop.
Theland, I’ve just watched a bit of your video – well at least until my eyes glazed over - and ignoring the fact that his five reasons are highly questionable, your man makes the same mistake you make. He assumes he knows who God is. Therefore he is not objective.

Bull. Logic wins. Could you do better to rationalise the evidence? The get out clause for atheists is to simply wimper, " We don't know." What a sad future.
I believe in God.

Theland - do not try to persuade me into your particular branch of religion, please! I don't need to read arguments for or against - God is past human logic. I have, before now, very nearly lost my faith, but then it has been reaffirmed, by means I cannot describe. Give up on the logic, it doesn't work!

If I am wrong -well then, I shall have lived my life in a way that is acceptable to me and helpful to others, so that is OK and I'll settle for that.
(As stated on your duplicate question)
Theland, ive viewed dozens of WLC youtube vids/debates. The mans a looney tune and easily refuted every time. I saw one some months ago where he actually stated that animals don't feel pain. Now THAT made me realise what a nut case he really is. Id take Dawkins over him anytime.

"Logic wins. Could you do better to rationalise the evidence?"
You are confused, logic isn't faith, neither is it infallible.
"I have nothing to prove."
That at least is true, your proof amounts to nothing.
Theland, //Bull. Logic wins.//

What logic? Really, what logic? You don’t know how it happened and so you attribute it to something for which you have no evidence – and don’t tell me the bible is evidence because if you’d studied it you would know without doubt that it isn’t. Where is the logic? Tell me.

The prophecies in the bible accurately describe our world and how we are heading for a catastrophe. Including the spirit of delusion that permeates the thinking of the majority of people.
aaah, the prophecies in the bible.
Like the ones that the world is going to end on the 24th Sept and the other one, where it's going to end on the 13th Oct.

They got that wrong so far from reading their little know-it-all book.
Prophecies are fulfilled by those who believe them and act to bring them to fruition rather than question them or do anything to avert them. Religion is the cause and consequence of the believer in the guilt they are destined in their belief to deserve.
Anyone can prophesize there will be times when things aren't going well. That's the usual state of the world.
nope..and i wouldnt mind being a pound behind the person who wrote that book of fiction " the bible" what a story!!
Question Author
A good place to start believing God created the universe, is to eliminate by reason all of the other possibilities for the origin of the universe. Try it and don't settle for,"We don't know."
