Hi

Does anyone know if it is okay to lay a fridge-freezer flat while its transported?

My uncle said it would be fine as long as I stand it upright again for 24hrs before plugging it in.

Has anybody ever done this sucessfully???

Your uncle is right.

And when it is finally plugged in, let it run for at least another 24 hours before putting anything in it.
Why is that?
Your uncle was right when it comes to the older design of fridge-freezers. But thanks to the design of some of the latest ones, if you lay them down, it's possible that some of the lubricating oil in the compressor can get into the coolant line. That can very seriously mess it up. If you're not sure, phone the manufacturer, giving the model type.
