I have the above Humax recorder. Yesterday evening I was watching back a recording when the box froze. I powered it off and on restarting it no says I now have no recordings. I had over 20% of recordings stored to watch. I am now unable to record or access the stored recordings. I have unplugged the box and reset factory defaults but box still does not work. I have also lost my list of future planned recordings. Any help please, box is about 3 years old. Claire

seems this is a common complaint with some humax boxes looking in google search. luckily i've had no problems with mine i've have for 8 years now,
Unable to playback recordings or record new ones sounds like a hard drive failure as you have probably lost your recordings you could try re formatting the hard drive. Your future planned recordings will have been lost when you reset your box

Ivor4781 - gone through settings and storage but no option to format HDD
Since formatting the drive is guaranteed to wipe anything which is already on it, I feel sure that it would be best to seek other options first. Give Humax a call on Monday.
the storage is your HDD
