Snappy Tapes?

While I still happily buy CDs (from Amazon for example), I notice that audio cassettes have made their way back. Are they stronger than they were or are the tapes still prone to snap, snag angenerally get tangled up in the tape player and try as one can, they still break!...I speak or write from recent experience after losing a valuable (to me) tape.Ta Muchly.

I can't imagine they would be made any differently that they always have.

I used cassettes for years, and can count on one hand the number of tangles I have had, and I never ever had one snap.

I suggest that either your handling or your equipment are the root cause of these issues, used correctly, cassette tape is perfectly robust.

I used to have tapes that stretched with use, and occasionally tangled, so I suspect Andy has just been lucky. I've heard nothing to suggest they're now made of leather, so I won't be buying any more, but good luck if you do so.

You used to be able to buy splicing kits for cassettes. If you still have your valuable tape it might be worth looking for one.

I still come out in a cold sweat over the amount of money I spent with The Britannia Music Club (spits) on cassettes and that they all ended up in a charidee shop.

There'll be no second chance in this house! :)

C120's were prone to problems because the tape was thinner, plus cassettes tended to get left in cars where the temperature variations did them no good as well and cheap players with poor alignments of rollers etc good easily screw them up. I don't think I ever had a problem with good quality tapes which didn't leave the house.

I did....and only played in good quality machines too.
