The racists start spouting off at about 01:58.

" I am not racist" one moment and the "I am a racist" the next. I hope that these uneducated twits may not be typical, but something tells me that there are more them than you would think.

Deeply depressing IMHO.

Mickey, is this a veiled attempt to label all those that voted to leave as ignorant thicko's which seems to be you normal attitude?

Of course the BBC will find this, they are blatantly anti leave despite being a tax funded supposedly neutral organisation.
"empowered" to me, suggests being given the authority. I appreciate it can also be used to express the boosting of one's confidence to do something but as a secondary definition. Brexit may make some idiots bolder as they can believe in a distorted reality and claim vindication, but back in the real world they are just fooling themselves and have been given no such licence. Thugs are thugs and need to be dealt with by the law. And the issues they are unhappy with examined in order to find root causes and ways to nip dissatisfaction in the bud.
The good old Beep Beep See, under the guise of being our social and moral "guardians" is in fact spreading and encouraging division and conflict. I stopped taking anything that is broadcast by them seriously long ago. When exactly did they receive a mandate to switch from reporting the "news" to making the news?
Yes, I was using the second definition as you have it, OG -- to be clear I of course don't think that Brexit provides any authority or licence for racism.
Does anyone actually believe that if brexit was stopped, all the racists would disappear and everyone would start being nice to each other again?

All the brexit vote has done is serve to highlight the amount of racism and resentment of immigrants that already lay hidden just beneath the surface.

It has not made racists magically appear out of thin air, or somehow affected the minds of previously decent people so that they woke up the morning after the result and decided to start hating foreigners.

A amazing but not unexpected lot soft support for these kind of racist thugs.

ie "because its the BBC, it must be dodgy"
perhaps you need to look to your own party for some more uneducated thugs?

They are everywhere Brexit didnt cause it.
I am sure that the Beep Beep See have furnished plod with the relevant details of all the self confessed hate crime perpetrators, and hope that they were not "paid" expenses or given financial inducements from our license money fine.
//A amazing but not unexpected lot soft support for these kind of racist thugs.//

"Soft support"? A vile slur from one the principle practitioners of the art form.
Question Author
I never said that Brexit caused it, and neither is anyone else. What I am saying is that there as a reported spike in hate crimes and racist behaviour once the result of the Refn. was known.
Refers him back to 12.34.
I'd expect most would agree that seems to be the case Mikey, but the underlying question is why it would be highlighted. It doesn't reduce the incidents, it can't be a reason not to make political decisions, nor, surely, can it be to tarnish Brexit supporters for having the audacity to want to exit the EU. Best let the police get on with sorting it.
//What I am saying is that there as a reported spike in hate crimes and racist behaviour once the result of the Refn. was known//

No you didnt you said

"A amazing but not unexpected lot soft support for these kind of racist thugs. "

That is what people are annoyed about.
// What I am saying is that there as a reported spike in hate crimes and racist behaviour once the result of the Refn. was known. //

So beyond this being a somewhat depressing fact, what are we actually supposed to do with the information?
//I never said that Brexit caused it and neither is anyone else. //

So what does your OP mean then?

"The Truth About Hate Crime And Brexit"

Seems the BBC (and you indirectly) are saying it is Brexit.

Debate it Ludwig, and perhaps explain why this spike in hate crime and racism occurred after the Referendum.

These young racists in the BBC link were almost certainly the same before the Referendum...racism has always existed here in Britain.

But could it not have been that the BREXIT vote has encouragement to thugs like these, to be so vocal and so outspoken in their views and actions ?
They can hide their faces but they can't hide their jazz hands.
The only danger you'd be in from those lads would be an impromptu chorus of 'Fame'.
It's all part of project 'brexit is responsible for every bad thing that happens from now on, so if you voted leave that makes you a bad person and we hope you feel ashamed of yourself'.

This is the replacement to the more snappily titled project 'fear'.
