Managed to pick 6lb 14oz of sloes before it started to get dark and had to go home to see to Rufus. Well pleased! There's still so many left, I'm tempted to go back and get more. Next year there probably won't be many, so it seems a shame to leave them. My sister damaged her back and so can't get out to forage this year, so maybe I can get a couple of punnets for her too. After I've given a neighbour a couple of punnets of blackberries, as usual, (she gives me apples in return), there'll be room in my wine fruit freezer!
Great work, enjoy the fruits of your labour.x

Nope, ummmm, I'm not on that call...it was a FB reminder that triggered me to post.
"Enjoy the FRUITS of your labour" - Groan!

I most certainly will, Mamya. I'm tempted to try my Damson wine recipe, which calls for 6lb, just to see what it would be like? It was always a really good wine and my sister's favourite.
I'll get me coat shall I?

Sulk ♥
What do you do with the sloes, Sir A?
I thought it might be, DTC!
Hi Tilly! I usually just make sloe gin. I detest gin, but sloe gin is amazing!
Don't sulk, Mamya. At our age, your face might stick like that!
You can make a lot of sloe gin with 6lb 14oz of sloes!
Can you put them in a pie?
Not sure about that, Tilly? They're very sour, so you'd need a lot of sugar!

Just weighed my windfall apples and I've got 17lb 10oz! After I've removed the bad bits, that weight will obviously fall, but it's not too bad since I got them for free, just foraging under the tree up at the local reservoir. There's a few russets on a small tree in my garden, so I'm hoping to mix all the apples together and have a go at making proper cider, which I've never done before. I hate cider, but my sister is now wheat intolerant and loves cider, so she should be able to drink it if it's just pure juice.
Good luck with all that peeling!
