Just curious if anyone knows the answer. On some sites I try to play a video they have on tgheir webpage, and in Firefox it says it can not be played, and shows what appears to be a sort of orange shield shape with a white V in it. Try the exact same thing in Chrome and all plays fine.

I tried searching for the orange/white icon on the Web in case it gave a clue as to what is blocking it, but with no success. Does it ring any bells with anyone ?

It's often a dodgy extension which causes video problems. To see if that applies to you, click on the hamburger (three lines, top right). Click on Help (question mark, at the foot of the menu). Click on Restart with Add-ons Disabled. Then see if the videos display normally.

If that fixes the problem, enable your extensions one-by-one, to see which one is causing the problem. (via Hamburger > Add-ons).

If it doesn't fix the problem, note down the names of any extensions you want to keep (because you're about to remove them) and reset Firefox to its default status. Don't worry, you won't lose your bookmarks! (Hamburger > Question Mark > Troubleshooting Information > Refresh Firefox) . That should hopefully fix the problem. (You can then reinstall any extensions you need).

Disabled worked, but there were only 3 Plugins anyway.

Open264 Video Codec
Widevine Content Decryption
Shockwave Flash which was disabled anyway.

Unsure what the difference is between a Plugin and an Add-on. Or a Worker for that matter. Do they use confusing labels deliberately ?

Ah I also see I've 6 Extensions as well. That's where I should've been looking. Most are labelled legacy, even Kaspersky, but it seems to have made no auto-update.

Logitech setpoint couldn't even be verified. Can't see either a delete nor an enable button for it though.

Hmmm... It seems to be Flash Control 2.1.4. Pretty poor control then. Only tried it (ages ago) to try to prevent videos autostarting; but it's supposed to allow if I explicitly request it play. Ah well.

Cheers.
