....when I got out of my taxi at the hotel in Liverpool a strand from the large ball of wool at the top of my shoulder bag got caught aroung the zip on my suitcase and the handle of the taxi door......

I had reached the hotel door before a man pointed it out to me.....and luckily the taxi driver hadn't driven off....

It was one of those large balls of Aldi Aran wool.....it would have covered half of Liverpool and unravelled what I'k knitted on the train had he driven away.....
He was a nice young lad.....and smiled patiently as he watched me wind up what I could and unwrap it from his door..... :-)

Lucky you, we are long overdue another visit, New Brighton is so easy to get to, Pick up the 433 bus and it stops on the seafront. Recommend the ice cream at Café Crème the mango sorbet is especially yummy. If you go to Fort Perch look out for Mitch the cat. For a really good bowl of scouse try Maggie Mays in Bold street or the ship and mitre at the top of dale street. The Museum of Liverpool is really good as is the Maritime Museum. The ferry is a must just stay on for the round trip. Pubs to visit include the Dispensary in Renshaw street and just because its round the corner the Roscoe Head. Not to be confused with the Roscoe arms which is pretty poor.
it could have been worse ...

aside..the Roscoe name in Liverpool... he was a local politician of sorts and owner of a brewery/pubs and he was also my mother's father..albeit as result of affair with a barmaid !
If you're having a drink in Liverpool, you have to visit The Philharmonic Dining Rooms; the architecture is stunning, virtually untouched for a 100 years.

a grandson or great grandson... not sure what.. got loads of info from now long dead family that were around when mum was born..it was all kind of hushed up in those times... but he fathered my uncle too..so it must have been a bit more than a wee encounter !!
If you visit Pier Head today gness, you will see a small/medium size Cruise Liner called Amadea (Owned by a German company called Phoenix)

Worked for many years in Rodney Street Liverpool and a couple of times a week would drop into Franks Greasy Spoon for a full English.
It is now a Greek restaurant i think.
Pub on almost every corner on Dock Road then, Sqad.
Liverpool has changed, for better and/or for worse, as Redman would tell you from his time in Merchant Navy.
