My own opinion, from experience, is if you take them and they make your feel better, take them. If they give you side effects, discuss alternatives with your doc. Special diets are an option, but they are very awkward, limited and bland. I have faith that there will be lots of scientific breakthroughs in the near future as we gather info, and hopefully a healthy solution can be found for gerd, lpr etc soon.
