ever since I had a colonoscopy,i have suffered with ibs..doctors dismiss this,but I am convinced that it was that which caused it..i never had it before,and it,s there all the time..it,s been 3 years now.

I have never come across this problem and in my readings, I have never read such concerns.
You must have had bowel trouble before your colonoscopy, otherwise you would never have needed that procedure.
Sorry, I can't be of further help.
I've had ibs type pain on and off since my colonoscopy 6-7 months ago. Who knows whether this might be just coincidence?
My daughter, 33 years old, has Crohn's disease. It only manifested self at the age of 26. She has had to have lots of colonoscopys.

They don't cause the condition, like sqad says.

it was just routine after bits of blood seen in 2 yearly stool test.
3 pollips were removed,but told it was just routine....thanx for your answers.
IBS is sometimes referred to as Brain-Gut syndrome and can be brought on by anxiety and stress. I've never known it to be a consequence of a colonoscopy or removal of polyps.

Are you certain it is IBS? IBS is an exclusion diagnosis - i.e. it is only given when all other diagnoses have been ruled out.

Have you been tested for H-pylori?

not been tested for anything..docs say it is ibs..
well I had to have half my colon out after my colonscopy....

but I think you can see that the colonscopy found the cancer and didnt cause it ....( twenty years this year)
Was the other way round for me. I had dreadful IBS for 10 years- would be unbearable and have me doubling up with pain, even fainting. I hada colonscopy. It found nothing. But the IBS suddenly stopped. Probably coincidental, maybe psychological
