How is the song harmful?
I'm struggling with this one too Daisy, there are many songs I don't like - some I will even leave a room for, but pernicious?
I can't see how this song is in the slightest pernicious, at least, not in the way I understand the word.

Whether right or wrong?
Yes but it's a narrative piece pertinent to the Musical.
I suppose it's about the effect on Nancy that Sykes has on her.

I can't think of a worse one right now.
I'd doubt that the lyrics have affected anyone.
Don't know DaisyNonna's definition of "pernicious".

In its normal moral meaning I nominate Madonna's "Papa don't preach."
Ooh, I think that takes the prize, Jno. Who wrote that?
I think the OP will need to explain what she means by 'pernicious' before anyone can give any sort of reasonable answer.
no idea, Cloverjo; it's on YouTube but I don't really feel like posting a link.

They sound extremely cross with life.
Nice lads eh.
DaisyNonna, I've just remembered one from the early 60s: Laugh Laugh by the Beau Brummels. It sounds like a really pretty, tuneful soft rock song - until you listen to the lyrics, and they're nasty

I can't do a youtube link at the moment but have always found the Kaiser Chiefs - 'Every day I love you less and less' a really nasty song
