I have enjoyed this series, but was left a bit unsettled at the end - is a further series on the cards? I felt there was quite a bit of unfinished business there. Don't want to go into details in case I spoil it for people who haven't seen it.

I enjoyed it. I think it's a one off though.

What unfinished business did you think there was?
I thoroughly enjoyed it and thought all the ends were tied up except the paternity issue.

No news of a second series as yet.

All the ends were tied up? Apart from the fact that the killer of the young lads got away Scot free. Perhaps a 2nd series would see Helen Weeks pursuing Frank Linnell and his henchman?
Tied up in the sense we know what happened, why it happened and who dunnit.
The baddies don't always get caught

Paul was obviously targeted by Frank Linnel so I wondered whether it was revenge for the death of his daughter? It didn't say how she died. Also the paternity issue was left in the air. I also had my suspicions about Helen's boss - he seemed very eager to get her out of his office. I just feel very unsatisfied with the ending,
Another thing - where was Theo at the end? What was that building?
Paul was targetted by the bad cop, Adam.
Frank was taking revenge on the lads responsible for Paul's death.

Not quite sure where Theo was....but he was the final loose-end tidied up by Frank's henchman.
Theo was in the lift going to his girlfriend's flat
Paul was targeted by the bad cop and Frank - Paul was working undercover to trap the bad cop who was protecting Frank.

Frank was orchestrating the gangs and had them killed because they knew too much and they'd served their purpose.
Kevin Sherwood (Lee Boardman) was the bad man being protected by Adam......although Frank is very dodgy he thought the world of Paul.
Paul was a straight cop investigating corrupted police officers and the bad cop was working with Frank
No..he was working with Sherwood.

Sorry folks - some of you seem to have different thoughts on who did what and to whom and why. I'm even more confused now.
Adam was bad, arranged for gAng to kill Paul in diversion tactic. Linnell and his hench man got it wrong and started killing of the gang who was used to start the diversion.
The gun the lads fired used blanks, unknown to them, the weapon was the woman in the car. She was made/threatened to drive into the bus stop at a designated time where Adam had arranged to meet Paul.
Others seem to want a second series

. . . and Mark Billingham seems to be happy to write it:
>>> Billingham, who has won the Dagger for crime novel of the year twice, admits that a side-kick getting their own series is unusual unless the lead character dies, as with Lewis. But the BBC were looking for a strong female detective and Helen Weeks fits the mould.

"It's a series about Helen Weeks and if there is a second series, this will also be just about her," he says
Sorry Jack, you were right. I'll have to watch it again.

Sorry for confusing you, helly :(
