TV set up with HDMI Vhs/Dvd-r Combo & tv Drive cable box

How can you set up a Panasonic Plasma HD TV with a Panasonic HDMI VHS/DVD recorder combo and with a Telewest HDTV TVDRIVE cable set top box to get the best from each unit in reception and preferably receiving the stations through the TVDRIVE box ( what combination of cables - scart /hdmi/rf etc are required ) current setup means I have to switch through AV channel on both TV and VHS/DVD to get reception on the TV, and
to get HD reception have to reset the TVdrive box video settings each time - there must be a simpler and easier solution to this problem - any TV techies out there who know these units inside out care to help out please?
