Old folk at home?
20. Old folk at home
Old folks at home is a tune in minstrel style and pensioners are old folks
(pensioners) Old folk + at home (in)
name of a minstrel song better known as swanee river
Question Author
Thanks for that. It was really doing my head in!!
Old folks not folk - old folk (pensioners) + S (initial letter of sang)
GB, see post at 09.24.
Okay danny - just correcting the parsing at 09.25
:-)
Gangesboy,
I take your point about my parsing at 9.25 but surely pensioners is plural making old folks a direct parse and the initially sang (s) superfluous.
Donny, folk is also plural.
Good point Danny, I had not considered that.
Pensioners OLD FOLK
Initially sang S
In AT HOME
Tune in minstrel style - definition
Big Dave site also goes along with the initially Sang parsing..so that's a done thing then !
..apparently today it is known as Swanee River
Glad that's sorted.
