Well; maybe the public feel that if the EU are to dictate to them, then it's no big deal that many candidates have little or no political experience. They won't be doing much other than following orders anyway.

Blair and Thatcher did it with established parties. Macron's party is completely new and consists in many cases of new deputies who have never been in politics.
And Trump is rather last year :-)

He is a bit of a star mikey. En Marche seem committed to changing France's bizarre voting system too: there was a 50% abstention rate, which is terrible and one area where we can claim to have done better :-)
