Lots of people in this election campaign have ridiculed Jeremy Corbyn for a number of reasons. However, the intelligent voters in this country are aware that it's not the singer that matters, it's the song, and people have noticed the difference between the Tories (remember them, Naomi?) and Labour. Theresa May wanted this to be about Brexit, but I don't think the majority of people did. For someone like me, it had nothing to do with Brexit. It was about the NHS, education, employment, housing. Like him or loathe him, Jeremy Corbyn came across to voters as a more caring and concerned person than Theresa May. Also, as I said last week, I thought the UKIP vote would collapse this time, which it has. It would appear they have gone back to Labour. Another factor in the disappointing result for the Tories. Right folks, no more posts this weekend from me. I'm off to Plymouth, where, I notice, Labour have just gained Plymouth Sutton from the Tories! Woo! Hoo! If you live in Plymouth, I'll see you in the Barbican tonight! Tara all.

"Brexit negotiations aren’t the be all and end all ..."

No, that was yesterday, in a different world. :)
I don't believe that for a moment.
Sorry, that^ was to YMB.

Douglas, indeed.
Brexit negotiations ARE the be all and end all or will be soon, or need to be soon. The Brussels folk must be tearing their hair out. Just when they thought there was going to be a "strong and stable" government coming at them, it looks like a minority government of chaos :-)
Tearing their hair out......
I doubt it. Laughing into their cheese and sausage breakfasts more like.
ichkeria, it is not the be all and end all. There are other issues that need to be addressed - and urgently.
Zacs, I agree.
I wonder who will lead the tories in coming days. Back to haunting mirrors for hapless Terry any time soon.
"Laughing into their cheese and sausage breakfasts more like. "

Incorrect. What do you think these people are about? They want to get on and negotiate the UK out of the EU. It is this curious view we have of Brussels that they are all a bunch of children.
Shame that the Politics of gloom have descended on many posters, but self-hobbled predictions and adopting narrow parameters are a hallmark on this section of the forum, in both camps.

Maybe a bit of light, partisan humour will mellow the mood ... {;~ ]

Theresa May can and should carry on. The argument that a new leader is needed as she has "no mandate" is nonsense. If that were to happen that leader would face the same criticism she herself faced after taking over from Cameron.
A more persuasive argument might be that she is not the person to lead the Tories into another "snap election", fearing that Labour might make another push and end up in power. So if the folk upstairs in the Tory party panic and think that there is going to be another election soon, then she may be forced out for that reason.
Seven, your avatar would seem a fitting symbol of British politics at the moment.

Ich. You have a much higher opinion of the EU Mandarins than wot I do.
Ich, what would happen to a premiership manager who's team was expected to score 50 goals and instead had 12 scored against them?
Even assuming that the EU are out to get us as hard as they can, they certainly can't do that if we are unable to even turn up to that negotiating table... So yes, no matter how you read it, whether the EU want to shaft us or work with us, they'll be frustrated at yesterday's results.
The flaw in this post might be that the Tory's singer mattered quite a lot.
That was a shock, I did not expect a hung parliament but I'm glad it's what we got! I was hoping May would lose her majority and she deserved to because she did not come across well in the lead up AND I bet she lost a lot of the grey vote - do not underestimate the power of the pensioner Mrs May !!
I don't see that as something to be glad about. Whatever point was made to the PM for her edification, we still now have a fine mess to cope with; which is hardly something to hope for.
Good for you og, but I'M still glad !
