H T C Smart Phone: Text File With Unknown Meaning

I have been given a used H T C smart phone. On connecting it to my P.C to re-charge its battery, a text file "nmdsdcid" was displayed.
Its contents were even more mysterious: "{C77F18F6-0062-47DE-A1E3-0AA7F924E3E5}".
--> In both cases, the name and contents are in my inverted commas.
Does anybody know what any of this means?

Search the web for the file name it is mentioned on a few web sites.

Seems to be related to people who download and play mp3 music files on their phone.

It is a "system" file, created and used by the phone (file also used on computers)
