Good App For Labelling Photos?

I am trying to put passport sized photos of children in my class on A4 sized sheets. I need to add their first names clearly underneath. I have tried several collage apps but they are fiddly or not good with the text. Any recommended apps?

I assume you want freeware. Have you looked at Gimp.
You could do that very easily in MS Word.
A desktop publishing program would meet your needs, with Serif PagePlus SE being the perfect freebie. It's been retired from the Serif website but you can still download it from here:

Thanks. Gimp is looking like overkill. I'm using a Mac but I have got MS Word. Thanks for the links Buenchico, I've heard good things about Serif in the past. Xx
