erection problems

my partner is on three different types of medication for depression. I think this (the medication) may be affecting his ability to acheive a good erection. any advice on how I brooch this with him without it sounding awful. He is really sensitive and I'd really like not to make things worse for him/me.

Your partner will already know that as well as not being able to achieve a decent erection, it is nigh-on impossible to have an orgasm. Strangely enough, he may not actually have linked this as a side effect of the medication, as the list of side effects contained within the packet may refer to this as 'sexual disfunction,' which does not give a good explanation. He may just think that he has lost his sex drive or feel a failure as a man. It is very important that you talk about this with him. OK, he's a sensitive soul but he may also be suffering needlessly with thought of not being able to perform!
As far as I know, after trawling through websites (a couple of years ago mind) if you live in the USA, Dr's will give you a medication to counteract this unpleasant side effect. If you are in the UK - hmmmm!

I don't think there's any way to skirt around the issue really! It maybe a good idea to ask him to read your question and see what he says!

Citalopram is an anti depressant which has an unpleasant side effect regarding your sex life. It seems to kill all sexual feelings.(I know as I've had this problem and disscussed it with my gp)If your husband is on these then the problem will be the tablets not him and that should make you broaching the subject a little easier. Yeah it would definetly be the medication affecting his performance, i am a girl and i was on something like 25mg a day of prozac and i couldnt climax at all whilst on those.

An update: I plucked up the courage, thanks to you, and he has been off the Modaffinal for ten days and will be talking to the doc if theres no improvement... result. thank-you x
