I live just outside London and I had mine out this time last year and they did really well.
Lilac you are at the mercy of the weather. If it is warm and sunny you are ok. But a wet and particularly windy spell or a frost will play havoc with them. You will have to be prepared to bring them back in if conditions go against you. I am putting my tomatoes out at the weekend forecast permitting up here in N. Wales. I do not have a greenhouse but have been bringing them on in a portable wooden cloch, that I dismantle every year. What I do though is have them on wooden pallets and build a little wooden frame around them and wrap shrink wrap(from the 2ft rolls used in warehouses) around the frames to give a bit of protection for a couple of weeks until June. Good luck.
I have tomatoes growing in pots, I've been bringing then in every night for about three weeks.
They're doing well but I'm sure they would have suffered from frost damage if I hadn't brought them in.
You might be okay in a week or so, but I'd keep a keen eye out on local weather conditions, getting them acclimatized gradually is the key.
As a rule I always do a lot more tomatoes than I need ..
This allows me to try putting some out earlier and taking a chance with the weather. About a week ago I did this and lost the lot to the frost. Not a problem, as I am left with 50 which will be going in my polytunnel at the weekend. We are on the Sussex Coast.
Give it another few weeks and as others have said .. harden them off first. You cant go by what you did last year, we are having totaly different weather this year and going by the cold north wind that is blowing at the moment, you are guaranteed to loose them.
still too early by about a month here in Scotland !!
