Today I went for a thorough STD test, not becasue ive been carless in the past, but just because i wanted to make sure. The nurse took samples from my throat urethra and cervix and looked at them under the microscope and told me that although she could not see any problems they were required to send them away for second opinion. I forgot to ask her what STD's she was looking for in the slides. Could anyone tell me? I also gave a sample of blood (a big deal for me as i have a phobia of needles and blood - im proud of myself) and i also gave a sample of urine. what would they test these samples for? i know my urine sample is tested for chlamydia, but would it not have been looked for under the microscope as well? i would like to kow about what she looked for and couldnt find on the slide to slightly ease my mind (i get paranoid too) thanks for any help. (i cant ring up the clinic becasue its not open again until friday, but i may ring up another if no one has any ideas. thanks

The answers have already been edited so i didn't see them! I applaud ladygarden for her common sense. If only more people did this, the country might not have such a high degree of STD cases. I think at some point we have all had unsafe sex,no matter how long ago, and as we know, things can lie dormant for years.Well done ladygarden!!!!! We can all use you as an example of a very sensible person!

ok well i have just rang up and asked what she checked for on the slides...and it turns out she didn't (or so i think) she says she looked for thrush and what i heard to be puspuss cells? did i hear right? what are they? so now i have to wait the full 14 days to see if i have anything. thats a bit harsh, i thought they could tell you what you had on the day be looking under the microscope. obviously not. what are these pus/puss cells she was going on about. i dont do technical terms unless they are about cars!
