When you are an avid watcher of Soaps and post a question or comment isn't it good to have replies from watchers as well why do people bother when they don't watch the Soaps, usually we have "I don't watch the Soaps but! and direct you to references etc all we want is a bit of banter and comments from fans!

I only answer to comments of EE. I have probably watched 90% of the episodes since the very first one. Sad innit ! But I do enjoy it.
Couldn't agree more, Caribeing. I live alone since my husband died, and I enjoy my Corrie and Emmerdale. They keep me company.
On the whole I agree but if there are specific questions such as the recent one asking who plays the detective in Corrie it's just good to get an answer.

What really gets my goat is the one who has to inform us that 'it isn't real, you know'.

I love Corrie and am always happy to join in the banter :)
I agree, it's an interest and escape for most, just like puzzles and DIY is for others, I don't answer DIY because I know nothing about it, so I don't see why others, that mainly keep to one category come in on a category they have no interest in and say, it's not real you know. Sometimes, these characters in 'soaps' can seem real to the viewers as they are in the sitting room probably more often than you see your family or neighbours, so asking or commenting on here about a soap with others who enjoy them is a little connection you have with others. It's not nice when someone spoils it. I have to say, I've not been an avid soap watcher in past few years, I no longer find them entertaining, but I don't knock them, they are doing something good, wouldn't be popular if not.
It makes some people feel "superior" to denigrate soaps and people who watch them...
Have never watched any of the more "popular" soaps, but just love Casualty and Holby City. Wouldn't miss them for the world.
I've just started to watch those maggiebee, the week before Robin went into labour and the colleague was off his tablets, he remind me of 'the Mask' he was so out of it, been watching that since
Ooohh ducksie, you'll be hooked in no time. Some great story lines.
I guess I will maggiebee, what caught me at all was I kept thinking, I know that guy, sure enough I did, he was in Heartbeat, I Love it and last episode I watched when she couldn't quieten the baby and the lady helped her, I knew the lady, she was in Corrie along with a lot of other stuff
I agree Cari and the ones who come on and say something like 'I haven't watched Corrie for five/six/however many years now' make me think, so??????
Totally agree. We know it's not real blah, blah but it's escapism for us. Think I'll just pop over to the sport section and exclaim I don't watch football.
