wow, That is something really harsh to go through. I guess all you can do is bite the bullet and go out side.. Start with finding a group of people who meet that have been victimised and have a similar issue.
My baby and I almost died giving birth and I never wanted to have another child because of what we went through.. I was messed up over it for a long time.. then with out planning it (years later) I got pregnant again and had a really good time, though I was freaked something bad might happen. (nothing bad did happend second time around)
I hope you get through it daleroy.. Im sure the world would like to see your face again.
i had a good answer for you, and lost it somewhere on system--will write one later, look out for it.
daleroy - so sorry to hear about your dreadful experience. Ask your doc to refer to your a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist - most NHS hospitals have such a specialist. Using deep psychotherapy and other interventions, they will get you to look differently about what happened to you. They will challenge your irrational beliefs - which are that its safer to hide because the world is a bad place and if you stay in your house you won't get shot again - and by challenging these beliefs can get you to change your thinking. CBT is a really effective and quick way to bring about change in a person's thinking. They will almost re-programme your mind just by talking to you. All the best of luck in the world. Doll xx
I have just read your question - what a truly awful experience.Makes my own silly problems just pale into insignificance.I don't really have any advice apart from what you have already been given, which is very good. All I can say is that if you are even down or low, then come on here and there will alway be somebody to chat to and listen to you.Big hugs and kisses.xx
