Bioscientist = (anagram of) I + insects +bit + o ("not" forgetting a "nt"(ant) = not - nt = o)

acrs (bends) reversed (over)
books = BB
L lecturer
E European
definition = game
Are you telling us there is a "?" between the words ?
Bioscientist = (anagram of) I + insects +bit + o ("not" forgetting a "nt"(ant) = not - nt = o)
14. Bioscientist?
On 14a is your N in the right place- maybe it ends in NIST
too late
14a Where you have a "C" I have an S (for silver fox)

Thanks to all. I hadn't spotted the anag. in 15d.
Now I only have to parse 1d, 25a,26a.
I think the Grauniad had 17d a day or so ago.
Post your clues and someone will help.
my "acrs (bends)" should have said "arcs (bends)"- some letters seem to take longer to appear on AB
1d = Oxygen (O) = an anagram of the last letters (ends) of "little town sung to baby ox" ie anagram of e,n,g,o,y,x)

Which paper is this?
25a = Bucketful (quantity) = Buck(money) + etfl (left, anagram), + (Tr) U(mp) (ie Trump's middle/ie soul)
26a = Bilbo (double meaning a hobbit and a sword)

17d GRAND CRU = grand (magnificent) Cru (sounds like crew, men on board,)
Guardian prize Captain! (Only one of 2 that I do each week!)
Thanks JJ, I thought it would be. Just threw me with the OP putting "I think the Grauniad had 17d a day or so ago" so I thought it could be a different publication.
14ac Or, alternatively, anagram of "I insects a bit not" without "ant"
