Ellie's husband who killed Dan was found not guilty by a jury and the family couldn't believe it so a group of them basically kidnapped him and told him to move as far away as he could and get out of their lives

Hmmm, I wonder if Joe Miller is protecting his son?? Maybe he seen what was going on and killed him in a fit of rage/ jealousy? Just a thought....
