does anyone know which airline is the best for passengers who are confined to a wheelchair? my dad is a wheelchair user and we want to go to america next year.
i also want to know companies who specialise in USA holidays for the disabled and their families and also car hire for the disabled. we are wanting to go to Washington DC or Boston/Maine!
would really appreciate the help!

Used to work in a special school, and the airline that was always most accommodating to our pupils was Virgin Atlantic.
I knew of a grossly overweight american some years back who used to fly across the Atlantic only by Icelandair because they gave him two seats together at the front - every time. In practice, provided you make prior arrangements, most established carriers across the Atlantic will accommodate you and your father. But everything in this being dependent on people you will risk coming up against human error/vagaries.
Virgin are the best, but you must state you want assistance at both ends of the journey when you book.
I take a wheelchair bound lady to Vegas and they always upgrade us to the bulkhead seats which gives us more room. About 4 weeks before you fly ring their disabled section and remind them. You board first, even before 1st class passengers and u are last off so that you dont get crowded.Have done 5 flights with them, 3 to Vegas and 2 to Mumbai.
