I recently bought myself a Packard Bell R1910 Laptop (Windows Xp).Already installed on the computer is Windows Media Player 10.My problem is when i play a dvd through windows media player part of the screen is made up of swiggly lines & the other half is made up of thick white lines. The dvd is playing in the background but for some reason i don't get a picture. The dvd's that i have tried so far are original dvd's.I have no problem watching dvd's through Power Cinema(this was already installed on the laptop) but as i say i can't watch a dvd through Windows media. As of yet i'm not connected up to the internet yet.Can anyone help please?

Hi Gerry, not being able to view DVD's in WMP10 is probably due to the fact that WMP10 or any WMP requires little files called codecs, you say the machine also has Power Cinema so this should have installed the WMP support codecs too, you do need to be connected to the internet to download new codecs from the Cyberlink web site alternatively open WMP10 click on the Tools menu and there should be a Plugin option, try there to.
Try using vlc player instead (it's free):
