My friend has given me her old iPhone 6 on which she had a contract with 02, which she had replaced with new iPhone 7. I have put my 02 payg sim card into it, but would like to go with BT, as they can do me a rally good deal if I have my mobile account with them. Does anyone know if I can unlock the phone, as I would like to keep my existing number. Would the iPhone still be registered as being in her name. Thanks

If she has upgraded her phone with O2, then the phone should by default have become unlocked when her contract changed to the new phone. My DH was part way through a contract period on his iphone when he passed away. O2 cancelled the contract and the phone became unlocked by default, I didn’t have to do anything. If you want to keep your current number and change suppliers then you need a pac code which O2 must give you.
