He has only stated the truth, do you seriously think that the US hasn't also carried out such killings?
Also isn't is wise to try and get along with Russia rather than make enemies of them, unless of course some want to see the outbreak of yet another war?
Our enemy at the moment is Islamic terrorism, and if we can get such a powerful country as Russia on our side, in the quest to rid the World of this scourge, then all the better.

Perhaps the more sensible, less warmongering US citizens are fed up with the continuous bickering between their country and Russia, so perhaps that is yet another reason that Trump and not that woman Hillary is now their President?

There seems to be an assumption by some people that we are either deadly enemies of Russia or hand in glove with them against 'Islamic terrorism'.
That is wholly unrealistic. We can cooperate with Russia on some things while not crawling to them and betraying our friends who are threatened by them. Putin is a bit of a terrorist himself, and the amount of assistance he can give is limited anyway.

Trump's bending over backwards to defend Putin ought to worry us. When it's out to him that the Putin has killed people then suddenly the Great America that he wants to stand up for becomes the Great Killer on a par with Russia.
I do think Andy's point is a good one. 'I must be right because other people think I the same way' is of course crass, but also suggests to me insecurity.

DT has stated that he doesn't know Putin very well so I consider it a worthy idea that they stay in regular personal contact so that he can form the best possible working relationship.
They can't ignore each other and they won't agree on some issues but the same could be said with the US/UK relationship.

While we are debating this, troops in the Eastern Ukraine are fighting like cats and dogs....a dispute that he could stop dead in its tracks if he intervened.

I understand that Donald Trump doesn't want to get things off to a bad start with Putin, but it's one thing making some non-committal remark about needing to concentrate on the things that unite us blah blah blah, quite another to suggest that Russia is just the same as the US.
Luckily there are sensible people around Trump, and it may be that Rex Tillerson, as someone who knows the Russians well, knows exactly what they are like. He was after all favoured by Condoleeza Rice, not exactly a patsy of the Kremlin

For the last week Russian heavy artillery have been lobbing Grad missiles from a suburb of Donetsk into the town on Avdiivka. In fairness I don't think Trump is capable of stopping this, but here's what Putin said about it : namely that Ukraine backed Clinton in the election and now they've started causing trouble in order to court dympathy from the new president. "Snake in the grass" is an affront to snakes :-)
