My mother passed away on January 4th; a blessing you would not have kept a dog alive in the state she was in.... Yet despite a dnr the NHL continued to drip catheritise and administer oxygen to prolong the process when the outcome was obvious, not eating drinking and not wanting to be here after losing her husband of 65 years two months ago. Rant 2 she had a colostomy and the stoma supplies we found unused in the house were unbelievable, thousands of pounds....would anybody take them, answer no despite unopened and within dates etc, no wonder we are in an nhs crisis, ok rant over feel better now

My Husband died in 2008 and I contacted the Stoma Supplies people and they took all I had left, said they redistributed them to homes and charities.

So very sorry for your loss, can understand though a happy release when things are so bleak, not good for those to suffer or the family to oversee. Yes lots of waste in the NHS and there will be lots who will say certain things cannot be allowed despite good intentions, dressings in date and unopened....they will state guidelines et al. Common sense should prevail but it doesn't. I do hope things get better for you, can understand your rants....hope you find peace in every sense.

I'm sorry to hear this, dominie - it's bad enough to lose a parent, but to have go in circumstances that you just know they wouldn't have wanted is heartbreaking.

Equally, it would be amazing if you could get those supplies to someone who can't access them.

Imagine how awful coping without would be.

You didn't sould callous at all, Dominie......I know just what you mean.....I had about £400 of injections in my fridge when MrG died.....ended up having to bury them under my new patio......and that was without all the oral medication that was wasted.....x

We found various supplies in my Mother's house after her death, incontinence pads mainly and we took them up to the Hospice in which she'd died, they were very grateful for them.
