I understand people may think suicide is selfish, but alas it's a bit more complicated.

A Coastguard search and rescue helicopter crew from Lydd was launched and spotted the man's body on the rocks, as well as the other bodies just half a mile away. The post mortems on all three bodies will be carried out on Tuesday according to the DM.
Gromit thanks for explaining. I get where you are coming from. I think I lean more to Anne's POV although I don't think it's always the case. One reads some accounts of a stroppy kid having a hissy fit over being told to do something or they can't have something they want and marching off and hanging themselves in the bedroom. Or a man or woman killing themselves and sometimes their children as well to spite their other half. Taking the children as well is unforgivable in my book.

Apparently two of the three were a brother and sister in their 60s. The third death was unconnected.

As Anne says you can see were a person wtih terminal cancer might want to go on their own terms but I cant understand when kids do it. Some years ago a couple of friends of ours lost their 15yr old daughter to suicide. It shattered the whole families lives and to this day they've never got over it or found a creditable reason she was popular having no problems at home or school that they knew off,but one day she came in from school went into her bed room and killed herself.
Just heard this morning that a friend's husband has committed suicide. (The 2nd one I've known in 10 years.) Trigger seems to have been his best friend's suicide and his own bullying by his employers. She has to absorb not having been enough to save the man she calls the 'love of my life'. In her early 50's. The pain and feeling of inadequacy don't bear thinking about.

Selfish - no, because to be selfish, you have to have some recognition of yourself in terms of other people, and that has long since left you. There is nothing else there but the pain, and that has to be killed.
