21a is the most obscure of the themed
Agreed Mamya & ta, I should have mentioned that myself
For 21 the undefined thematic item is in the middle with the defined part of the solution around it - I had to look it up. I wrongly thought at first that the defined part of the solution was the last 4 letters

Many thanks to all Samaritans. I confess I didn't like the G in 5d. I thought M or K were the normal "thousand" abbreviations.
And like more or less everyone I was floored by 21a. Never heard of the tree in question and thought the last four letters were the relevant part.
But thanks again. You were all best answers.
Sorry to be dim but I'm but I'm still failing on 21a & 19a. I have
_E_A_E_T and all I can see is DECADENT.

Then S_R_K_. Perhaps I have something wrong.
Hi William444 & welcome to AB :-)

It's always nice to include full clues so that people without the puzzle can more readily help - also, starting your own thread gets your Q onto the front page of the Topic where it's more likely to be seen :-)

21a (Themed) - De-Cade-nt (dent; impression - cade; tree)

19a Strike - double meaning; knock & down tools
Apologies, I misread your profile - the sun's in my eyes is my excuse :-)
Thank you, Lie-in, excellent clues now I've seen how they work.

I wanted to start a new thread but being new to the site I can't see how.
