Can I ask you what you thought was the worst programme on over Christmas? I think definitely Blankety Blank!! It was TRULY AWFUL. I lost the will to live in it. Him indoors disagrees. He says Birds of a Feather was worse.

I watched that trt, very good. Looking forward to the other half tonight.

Also, not to everyone's taste, based on a true story of a cowboy who had AIDS, the Dallas Buyers Club shown on Christmas night was riveting from the off. But then it did win 57 awards!
The daughter has very kindly bought me a new huge TV for Xmas so I can look forward to seeing David Walliams with an even bigger face...
// most TV today is infantile in the extreme. //

I could not disagree more. We are currently in a golden age of TV. Most of the best stuff is American produced, but the new series of 'Black Mirror' was superb. Game of Thrones, largely made in Northern Ireland by British talent is another stand out gem.
Were any of those you mention on over Christmas though Gromit?
What a generous daughter you have craft:-)
Nothing wrong with tonight's festive University Challenge which we've just watched.
v_e; Yes Natalie is there playing a 15 year old, but, taken from IMDB;

".... the complexity of this film makes this one of the top 5 movies of all time. Steven Spielberg said (in an early 90's interview) that this movie was possibly the greatest of all times, due to the depth of the character studies. The interplay between Ethan & Martha (his brother's wife)is subtle, yet screams of an undying, yet unfulfilled love that has endured for several years. You have to see the scene where Ward Bond is left in the house eating doughnuts, and witnesses the final, tender goodbye, while looking straight ahead, coming to the realization of what it all means, and how hard it is for the two of them to keep it from everyone else."

Eat your heart out Kevin Spacey.
Ward Bond? That's going back a bit. Wagon Train.
And another festive treat (a great favourite chez nous): Gordon Buchanan in the elephant programs.
KUSTARD perhaps you're picking the wrong programmes to watch??
Coor- Blimey, new movies.

We are lucky today Folks. The African Queen 1951, The Glen Miller Story 1953, and Father of the Bride.
Looking forward to Ethel and Ernest on BBC1 at 7.30 tonight, seems interesting.
The best thing that I saw on TV this year was the programme that Julian Clary hosted about the old Christmas TV ads. The rest of it was pretty dire as usual
Call the midwife xmas special. The phony South African accents and the ridiculous political slant. Yawwwwn!
I think Call the Midwife went downhill after the actress who played Jenny left, and the episodes were no longer based on the real Jenny's memoirs.
