Energy Saving Light Bulbs. Which Ones Light Up Quickest?

I'm gradually replacing all the light bulbs in the house with the energy saving ones, but I've found that some are very slow to come on.

Has anyone got any recommendations as to which ones light up quickest?

It can be a nuisance to have to wait at the bottom of the stairs for enough light.

LED are certainly low-energy - on a par with the "conventional" low-energy bulbs in terms of power consumption but instant ligth output.

LED bulbs are instantaneous.

Are they different to the ones I've obviously bought? I didn't think LED were the energy saving ones.

Thanks bhg481. I'll know what to buy in future.
We recently replaced the low-energy bulbs on our stairs with these because the others were slow to reach full brightness:

Instant illumination now.
The new LED ones are greatly improved.

Instant brightness, soft and hard light, even dimmable.
If you're replacing several of them, much cheaper to multi-buy. And, you can choose a "warm" white or a "cool" white with LED. I've changed all mine to these........

I've got led's throughout the house, they're 10 Watt equivalent to100 Watt. I get mine from amazon, they work out about £3 each but worth every penny I think
