After 444444444 million times it's been said outdated and why has someone not come up with a better expression than Happy Christmas .Happy and Christmas

don't really go together .Something like It will not be long now till the New Year Keep the reason for Christmas but wan thing move it to say middle of July .

I tend to use 'merry' with 'Christmas' and 'happy' with 'New Year'.

Given the amount of alcohol consumed by some people, 'merry' seems appropriate for use at Christmastime to me!

Yes, they were my thoughts, up until quite recently it's always been merry Christmas and a happy new year, not quite sure when happy took over merry.
Always been Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to me also.
I used to know a family with the surname 'Christmas' and yes they had a girl and named her Mary !
I'll bet that made her happy, EDDIE.
My Mum was a school teacher, in different years she had the 3 'Twigg' sisters in her class, Hazel, Holly and Ivy !
How about bah humbug!
