Its not actually the not smoking that makes you put on weight. When most smokers smoke it relieves their hunger, so when they are not smoking they eat more.

So all you have to do is eat less I suppose, not that I'm suggesting you eat alot.

Some people lose weight when the stop smoking - they bcome more active to distract themselves.

Keep it up! You're doing well, and will soon be feeling big benefits, health and money wise.

I suggest you find a hobby to occupy your hands, take a little more exercise (walking is ideal) and drink more water.

Good luck!
I'm sorry I have to disagree with James. :-) It isnt because you eat any more. I gave up last year and I dont snack anymore than I did before and I put on a stone and stayed at that weight and dont seem to be able to lose it. I think your motabolism just slows down but after a while it supposed to sort itself out but god knows when mine will. :-(

The key here is raising the metabolism, the fact that you are now a non smoker should mean that you will be able to exercise harder and longer this will raise the metabolism. Smoking does act as an appetite supressant and does itself raise the metabolism. James is correct though when he says that smokers often eat more, perhaps subconciously, sweets and snacks etc. But there is also the metabolism issue and that comes in with what 4getmenot says. So in short stop snacking and take more exercise.

For what it's worth crack one prob at a time, so what if you out some weight on, get it off again once you have beaten the smoking thing. The smoking is far more dangerous than being a little overweight. Get down the Gym!

i gave up last jan, and ive put 2 stone on!! i think your metabolism slows down when you stop smokin. dont give up givin up tho it ll level out eventually.... i hope!
