seems like only yesterday people were outraged that Obama warned against Brexit. Apparently that was interfering in another country's internal affairs. This isn't, of course.

Mr Trump can't appoint a UK ambassador to the US.
In the title in bolg bold letters is "would be"

So before trying to stir trouble and twist what 'Lord' Nigel and The Donald say please get your facts right.
^^ True, and that thread sorted.

Deliberate?

jno, hardly a reasonable comparison!
I think Lord Farage would make a superb ambassador. Good idea Donald!
It's rare enough that we see Trump saying something sensible (even if it is obvious). Why not sit back and enjoy the moment ?

Meanwhile the government could not cope with the loss of face to appoint the one who pushed through the saving of this nation as one worth the title; so it is extremely unlikely to occur. And not something the country gets to vote on, I assume our PM makes the decision on ambassadors.
On news at 9am. Mrs May states that there is no vacancy for an Ambassador to the US.
Danny, even if a vacancy existed Donald Trump would have no say in an appointment. I don't know why people are getting their knickers in a knot over it.
Agreed
Further down the BBC article, Jon Sopel, in his analysis of the situation states " The future head of state of one nation telling another country who they should appoint as their ambassador is unusual enough; when it is two nations that are meant to share a special relationship it is a breach of nearly every rule of diplomatic protocol. " Trump is ignoring the fact that there is already an ambassador...it's awkward to say the least and none of his business.
pastafreak, it's only 'awkward' if people make it 'awkward'. Mountains and molehills.
I agree with old geezer. This is a satirist's heaven. Let's enjoy the comedy
Naomi: "Mr Trump can't appoint a UK ambassador to the US. "
Nothing stopping him making Farage US ambassador to the UK though!
ToraToraTora, haha! That would be worth watching!
This is all about Nigel" Yosser Hughes" Farage....gizza job mate....any job, coz mine is ending soon !
I wonder what the British government are thinking just now. That finger will be on the button?
If he just means AN ambassador for the U.K. in the loose sense of the word then that might be his opinion. Otherwise oops embarrassing. They'll be wanting to take that twitter account off him again.
Ambassadors come from the diplomatic service as a rule (note the word 'diplomatic')
