A fitting tribute to a great broadcaster.

Just as well they didn't jump the gun with BBC Savile House.
Over to Andy Hughes!!...
What about Sir Jimmy Young??

Loyalty, sheesh..
A fine & fitting gesture.
AG - I doubt Sir Jimmy Young would get such an accolade because he did make it clear that he was unhappy at being retired.

I think this is a fitting tribute to Sir Terry - my personal animosity takes nothing away from the huge regard in which he was held by the public.
Andy - whether Sir Jimmy was unhappy or not, he still gave decades of service and he too, had a lot of avid fans.
AG - a fair point, but the BBC does not take kindly to having its decisions questioned, and it takes even less kindly to someone using its own media to criticise it to the listening public.

No, Sir Jimmy's boats were well and truly burned with the Beeb when he left, Sir Terry kept his personal gripes such as they were, to some gentle mocking now and again, nothing to frighten the horses.

Working for the BBC means playing their game, Sir Jimmy didn't, Sir Terry did.
I agree Andy.

What about 90yo Desmond Carrington who recently held his last show on 28 Oct I think it was?
AG - he's up in Scotland, i.e., north of Primrose Hill, so we don't really think about him at all!!!!
