We watched the second episode of Dark Angel last night but we seemed to have missed the part where she bigamously married Mr Cotton. When did that happen? Was it before or after her affair with the ailing house owner who then threw her out?

She married Frank Cotton before she got the job of nursing the house owner but the marriage ceremony was not shown.

Why did she kill her lover Joe?

Because he was no use to her as she was trying to better herself (& she said she would never be a miners lass). She killed him & then thought the house owner would be her next husband as she was pregnant.
